What is a CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing treatment?
A CO2 fractional laser treatment can accomplish more for skin rejuvenation than any other single treatment within the aesthetics industry. CO2 fractional skin resurfacing creates new collagen and delivers dramatic improvement in wrinkles, lip lines, textural irregularities and pigmentation issues simultaneously - all in a single treatment! CO2 is the Gold Standard in laser skin resurfacing and Skinpossible utilizes the Gold Standard among CO2 lasers by Lumenis. Skinpossible Lumenis Acupulse CO2 laser is a precision tool which allows us to tailor treatments to the very specific needs of each individual patient
A single CO2 fractional laser treatment can safely and effectively:
How Does a CO2 Work?
During a CO2 treatment thousands of very narrow perforations are created in the skin utilizing a very narrow laser microbeam about the width of a human hair. The laser scans one small area at a time and delivers heat so quickly that the tissue is literally vaporized to remove columns of tissue deep into the layers of skin. This initiates the body’s natural wound healing response which heals the surrounding zone of affected skin by creating new collagen. Within a period of five days post treatment the damaged skin exfoliates and a new layer of skin develops to reveal a smoother, healthier, clearer complexion. Over the next few months a new collagen foundation develops to further improve skin texture and tone, tighten the skin and pull out lines and wrinkles. CO2 offers all of these benefits in a single treatment, with minimal downtime! Deeper wrinkles (particularly those around the mouth) and acne scars may require additional treatment(s).
What Does a CO2 Feel Like?
Topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment areas and in some cases medications may be administered to assure your comfort during the treatment.
During the procedure you will feel a warm sensation as the laser is applied to each of many small scanned areas measuring about ½ cm in width. Each scan will take approximately two seconds to administer and the total treatment time will vary from 15 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the size of the treatment area. After the treatment cold compresses will be applied and your skin will appear slightly red. Your skin may feel quite hot for an hour or two and a sensation similar to that of a sunburn may last for a few days. Some inflammation is also to be expected.
You should be able to resume normal activities within 3-5 days post-treatment as any residual pinkness can be covered up with makeup. Erythema usually resolves within 14 days post-treatment but you can expect to see continued improvement in the skin for up to six months following the procedure as collagen is remodeled.
